The members of the Carolan String Quartet are each qualified to the highest professional standards of performance in the Cork School of Music, the Royal Irish Academy of Music, the DIT College of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Outside of the quartet, we work as freelancers with the RTE Concert Orchestra, the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the orchestra of the National Concert Hall and the orchestra of Camerata Ireland. We are all past members of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and two are past members of the World Youth Orchestra.

We travel within the Leinster area to provide music for concerts, wedding ceremonies, funerals and various other functions where background music is required, such as official openings, drinks receptions and gala dinners. Because of the expensive nature of our instruments, we do not perform outdoors. Our extensive repertoire ranges from light classical to Irish music, tangos to popular songs and we normally try to cater for any special musical requests for religious services. We very often work with vocalists at these services and though we are happy to recommend and put you in touch with the professionals we like to work with, the Carolan String Quartet works independently of vocalists and therefore, enquiries regarding fees and availability can be made directly to the vocalist.
